Have you ever seen something that you never knew existed, but felt completely and utterly enlightened once you discovered it? That pretty much sums up our entire relationship with Dreamfarm, an Australian maker of clever kitchen tools that are so enlightening, you’ll find it hard to believe you went all this time without them—they are seriously that awesome.
When you create and test the number of recipes we do here at Everyday Dishes & DIY, using all sorts of tools comes with the territory. We’ve built an arsenal of spoons, spatulas, whisks, tongs and anything else you can think of, all poised and ready to get the job done when needed. It wasn’t until we were introduced to Dreamfarm’s “Garject” that the clouds started to part and a beaming ray of light shined down on our cutting board.
The Garject is a garlic press, and anyone who knows their way around a kitchen will tell you that your average garlic press is kind of a pain. You load it up, squeeze out your garlic gold and then have to pretty much dig out the garlic goo left behind. The Garject presses unpeeled garlic, scrapes itself clean and even ejects the peel. Get it? Gar-ject? Garlic ejector? Problem totally solved!
Now it’s not exactly like we were losing sleep over having to continually clean out our garlic press, but being clued in on how Dreamfarm cleverly solved this problem made us curious to find out what other genius things they have come up with. When we investigated further, we were delighted to find an entire line of oddly named yet brilliantly designed instruments that go way beyond the common spatula.
The first gadget that caught our eye was the Scizza. We’re a huge fan of homemade pizza so pizza scissors that both cut and serve our pie with ridiculous ease prompted an unceremonious tossing of our dull pizza cutter in the trash. And since an easy cleanup is kind of our thing, the click-lock sit up tongs, or Clongs, can stir, scoop, serve and flip—and without ever hitting the countertop. Score!
But this is the one we REALLY got excited about! Sure to revolutionize Thanksgiving dinners across the country, our absolute favorite Dreamfarm find has got to be the Smood. It basically looks like a funnel shaped spring on a handle—totally bizarre, right? But what it does is trap your boiled potatoes, avocado, squash or whatever else and lets you perfectly mash them and scrape them into a bowl. We ordered two. No joke.
The holidays are creeping up on us and whether you’ll be cooking for the family or buying a gift for the cook in the family, Dreamfarm is definitely worth a visit!.
