Cootie catchers or origami fortune-tellers have been around a long time. Created by folding paper, these cuties evolved into a children’s game where colors, numbers, questions and answers are written on the various folds.
One child operates the origami fortune-teller according to inscriptions the other child has chosen. Each fold leads to another until hidden answers to questions are revealed.
A printer will get you started on this easy craft, so have the kids gather round then count heads to see how many cootie catchers need to be made. Because there is no expense involved, this project would be great to hand out as a favor for a child’s sleepover or even a class party at school.
Load your printer with plain white paper, download our cootie catcher printable and cut it out using scissors. The nice thing is that you won’t need any fancy paper—we’ve already incorporated a colorful design of hearts, numbers and familiar sayings for the occasion.
