We don’t need much of a reason to party here at the Everyday Dishes headquarters. To us, every day is a cause for celebration, so when we received new Sargento Tastings they quickly became our new secret foodie weapon when we’re throwing an on-the-go fete.

These specialty cheeses come in 3.25- to 3.95-ounce varieties in eight fresh, diverse flavors and are sold for just $2.69 each. So, it’s easy and affordable to please a large crowd!

We paired Havarti cheese with thinly sliced granny smith apples and raspberry preserves for a super easy and tasty snack! We substituted crackers with a crisp tart apple sliced thinly to add sweetness and acidity. The acidity in the lemon and tart apples will allow you to more fully taste the subtle and complex flavors in these cheeses.

It is the perfect snack for book club meetings, date night or even just solo TV marathons.

Sargento Tastings Cheese

makes: 18 servings
what you’ll need
  • 1–2 medium-sized apples, such as Granny Smith, Fuji or Gala
  • ½ lemon
  • â…› to ¼ cup raspberry preserves
  • 1 package Sargento Creamy Havarti Tastings, thinly sliced
let’s do it
  1. Rinse and dry apples thoroughly. Using a sharp knife or mandolin, slice the apples horizontally into â…›” slices. (Cutting the apples horizontally will give nice round “cracker”-like slices.) Select the most beautiful and appropriately sized slices for presentation and remove any seeds that may remain in the center. Rub each apple slice front and back with the lemon to prevent browning and place on a serving tray or cheese board.
  2. Top each apple slice with 1–2 slices of Creamy Havarti then add a small dollop of preserves. Serve at room temperature and enjoy!

Need more tasty inspiration? Here’s how we like to pair the cheeses:

  • Aged Wisconsin Cheddar: Rich and nutty, this flavor is often served alongside sweet, chocolaty desserts and fruity jam.
  • New Zealander Egmont: The creaminess of Gouda and sharpness of cheddar come together in Egmont, which we like to pair with almonds.
  • Bruschetta Jack: The flavor-packed tastes of sun-dried tomato, basil, garlic and parsley on this cheese are best spread over crackers.
  • Fiesta Pepper Jack: Cooling Monterey Jack and four different types of fiery peppers come together in a delicious way. Serve with chilled Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio—olé!
  • Medium Asiago: Intensely flavored, but still totally approachable, Asiago goes great with dried fruit and nuts.
  • Creamy Havarti: Softer and more luxurious than the typical Havarti—fig jam, sliced pears and assorted olives bring out its flavor in the best way.
  • Parmentino: Parmesan and English cheddar mix together for a tangy, full-bodied cheese that pairs well with grilled veggies or salty caper berries.
