The 4th of July holds such warm memories for me. Like the smell of sweet strawberries and getting into an old pair of cutoff jeans. The 4th says to me: “get outside!”

I remember as a kid finding a great place in the yard to have a picnic where we would anxiously await the holiday’s sky-lit centerpiece. Those memories have inspired me to create a casual picnic on the back of an old John Deere this year.

In preparation, I grabbed some fresh produce and took this old piece of burlap and dyed it red to add a little symbolic color, and used a pair of tattered old blue jeans as napkins that we wrapped around the sandwiches for an easy all-in-one snack pack. I love this vintage feel.

Bottom line is that it doesn’t have to be fancy this summer—do what you do best. Summer time is about enjoying family and being outside! So take it outdoors, relax, and live the moment!
