Tear the bread into large chunks and place in the food processor. Pulse until the bread is completely broken up and is in small crumbs. Transfer the crumbs to resealable bags and freeze until needed.
To toast the crumbs, heat enough oil or butter in a skillet to moisten the crumbs. Toast until the crumbs sound dry in the pan.
Sprinkle over mac and cheese, casseroles, or any dish where you need a bit of crunch.
