Want the rich, tangy flavor of a top-shelf margarita without the added preservatives in the pre-made mix? Shake together our best margarita recipe ever!
Wet the margarita glass with water from the faucet and place the glass in your freezer for a few minutes to achieve a nice frost.
Next, fill the cocktail shaker with ice then get out a jigger or shot glass to measure the ingredients for the margarita. A shot of liquor is 1.5 oz.
Pour a shot of gold tequila, a shot of Cointreau, a shot of Grand Marnier and a shot of orange juice into the shaker.
Next, add a splash of orange-flavored bitters, Rose’s lime juice, lemon lime soda and a squeeze of fresh lime. Remember, just a splash of each—you don’t want to overdo the flavor of the margarita. Using more than one splash of bitters will make your drink taste too sour!
Place the cap on the cocktail shaker and then shake vigorously. For an extra-cold margarita, place the cocktail shaker in the freezer for a few extra minutes to chill.
Meanwhile, pull the margarita glass out of the freezer. Because the glass is already ‘wet’ with frost, just dip the rim in margarita salt. If you don’t freeze your glass prior to pouring the drink, just wet the rim with water before rimming with salt.
Pour fresh ice in a glass or use the ice already chilling in the cocktail shaker.
Remove the cocktail shaker from the freezer and give it one more good shake! Then pour the mixture into the margarita glass.
Garnish with fresh lime and enjoy!
Notes
Save money and nix the Rose's lime juice by using fresh squeezed lime! Same with the orange juice.
