Equipment

  • 1 loaf pan

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • Brown the butter by placing the butter into a small saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter is melted and bubbling, reduce the heat to medium-low. Allow the butter to simmer, stirring frequently and scraping the sides until golden brown. The butter should smell nice and nutty. Once browned, pour into a large mixing bowl and let cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Scoop 4 tablespoons of the brown butter and set aside for the glaze. Make sure to get some of those brown bits!
  • Add the sugar to the brown butter in the large mixing bowl and whisk until the sugars are combined.
  • Whisk in the pumpkin, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • In another bowl whisk together the flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  • Fold the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Begin checking at the 50 minute mark to ensure you don’t over bake. Remove from the oven and allow to cool almost completely.
  • Meanwhile make the glaze. Place the brown butter and maple syrup into a microwave safe bowl and melt again if it has hardened.
  • Whisk in the powdered sugar, and a small pinch of salt until smooth and pourable.
  • Remove the loaf from the pan and pour the glaze over the top of the loaf and allow to set. Some of the glaze should melt into the loaf due to the butter- this is okay and what you want to see!
  • Once the glaze has set, slice, serve, and enjoy!
