Ginger Beer Stormy Cocktail
This ginger beer stormy cocktail recipe originated in Bermuda, just after War World I, and was quickly patented by Gosling’s Black Seal rum officially called a Dark ‘n’ Stormy. We just made a few tweaks to make it our own!
We loved this cocktail for its smooth rum flavor with hints of caramel and spice, while the equally spicy, fizzy ginger beer is complemented with a generous hit of fresh lime. The trick to mastering this cocktail is to find the golden ration of rum to lime to ginger beer, and while we listed quantities in this recipe that worked specifically to our taste buds, there’s no rule against experimenting on your own—in fact, we encourage it!
A word of caution—we tried subbing the ginger beer with ginger ale, since ginger ale is more commonly located at the supermarket, however the ‘cheat’ didn’t turn out as we had hoped. Legitimate ginger beer is essential for this ginger beer stormy cocktail to come full circle.
