Muddled Blackberry Rum Spritzer

We think this cocktail is a hit because it’s fruity but not too sweet. With just the right amount of fizz, you can sip happily on this beverage without getting a stomachache. At first we used a lemon-lime flavored soda but ultimately decided the final product needed a punch of ginger. See if you agree.
We muddled our blackberries to bring out their sweet and tart flavors. Muddling is easy to do right in the cocktail shaker and gingerly smashing them with the handle of a wooden spoon.

Blackberry Rum Spritzer Recipe

Ingredients
Yield: 1 serving
- blackberries
- ginger ale
- Malibu rum
- fresh mint, for garnish if desired
Instructions
- Start by adding a handful of blackberries to a cocktail shaker then muddle the berries by mashing them with a spoon.
- Add ginger ale and coconut-flavored rum to the shaker then stir. You can shake at your own risk, but we prefer to save our fizz for sipping.
- Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a glass full of ice then garnish with fresh mint.
