how to create cork coaster gift tags
Ingredients
  • cork coasters, approximately 4″
  • 2″ letter stencil
  • X-acto knife
  • ruler
  • hot glue gun
  • white glue
  • hole punch
  • ribbon
  • scrapbook paper
  • glitter
  • puff paint
  • embellishments
Instructions
stenciled
  1. Place stencil on coaster and lightly pencil in letters on cork.
  2. Pour small amount of paint into bowl (upcycle Greek yogurt cups for paint bowls).
  3. Dip stencil brush in paint and dab excess off onto paper towel.
  4. Hold stencil in place with one hand, begin painting in a tapping motion (to achieve the best results for stenciling, tap stencil brush on fabric in an up and down tapping motion).
  5. Let each letter dry before moving to next.
  6. Wipe stencil clean with damp paper towel to remove excess paint and prevent smudging; let dry.
  7. Hole punch at top of coaster.
  8. Thread ribbon and tie knot to hang gift tag stencil cutout gift tag.

  1. Place stencil on coaster and hold in place with hand. Trace inside of stencil with pencil.
  2. Cut out letter with X-acto knife and ruler (repurpose the letter cutout as a stamp).
  3. Hole punch at top of coaster.
  4. Paint white glue around edge of coaster.
  5. Sprinkle glitter while glue is wet; let dry. Embellish with puff paint.
  6. Thread ribbon and tie knot to hang gift tag paper embellished gift tag.

  1. Cut designs out of scrapbook paper and secure with hot glue.
  2. Hole punch at top of coaster.
  3. Embellish with puff paint; let dry.
  4. Thread ribbon and tie knot to hang tag.
Notes
Better double up on the number of coasters–you’ll want to use some as tree ornaments, too!
