Helping out makes your guests feel like they’re part of the celebration. It also keeps you from going out of your mind with a lengthy chore list. Open your list to volunteers or assign jobs accordingly–any hands make light work!

Give tasks fun names such as “Uncork the Fun” to decant the wine, “Towel Off” to dry pots and pans before dinner, “Make the Tines Shine” to polish the silver and “Dish it Out” to plate food brought by guests.

You can create your chore charts on anything from a chalkboard to extra poster boards found in the craft closet. You can even draw tasks from a hat. Add incentive by handing out a small prize to the participant who completes their task with the most enthusiasm.
