The main difference between regular coffee and espresso is the grind of the beans and how you brew it. Espresso is made with finely ground coffee beans and, with a typical espresso machine, under high pressure with less water. Regular coffee uses a coarser grind, less pressure, and more water. Essentially, espresso is very strong coffee. For this recipe, if you don’t have an espresso machine, just brew some very strong coffee and add in a bit more ground coffee to your frosting. It will taste just as good!
Coffee Buttercream Frosting Recipe Tips:
+ This coffee buttercream frosting works equally well on a chocolate cake recipe as well as a yellow buttermilk cake recipe. It adds so much depth of flavor to either option!
+ If you don’t have a hand mixer, that’s okay. You will just have to whip the frosting a little bit harder by hand!
