Decadent Frozen Hot Cocoa
We had both the kids and the adults in mind when we put together this recipe. We’re pretty sure everyone will be head over heels for our frozen hot cocoa! This is one frosty chocolate beverage for the entire family.
You can use whatever milk you have in the fridge and any brand of hot cocoa mix will do the trick. The resulting taste is a smooth, velvety chocolate dream. Serve alone as a refreshing after school treat or add whipped cream and sprinkles to make it dessert.
We used half-and-half in our recipe. Half-and-half or heavy cream will make this frozen treat extra decadent. Pour the half-and-half, chocolate syrup and cocoa mix in the blender and flip the switch to a low speed, until ingredients are just combined.
Add crushed ice and purée the mixture until it’s completely smooth. Pour into cups, top with whipped cream and your favorite toppings. Sprinkles, nuts, cherries or fresh berries are all delicious ideas!
For a more adult version, we’re not opposed to adding a splash Irish cream or coffee liqueur to the blender—let your imagination run wild with possibilities. Bon appétit!
Decadent Frozen Hot Cocoa Recipe
- 1 1/2 cups half-and-half
- 3/4 cup hot cocoa mix
- 1/4 cup hot fudge sauce
- 3 cups ice, crushed
- whipped cream, dairy or dairy-free
- toppings, optional
- Place half-and-half, hot fudge sauce and cocoa mix in blender. Blend on low speed just to combine then add crushed ice and purée until completely smooth.
- Pour into cups and top with whipped cream. Sprinkle with your choice of toppings.
- Sip and enjoy!
