Mango Ginger Vodka Cocktail
Mango and ginger are two of our favorite ingredients. While we love the opportunity to use them in a smoothie, we decided to make a mango ginger vodka cocktail instead!
If you love the ‘pulpy’ texture of orange juice, this drink recipe is for you! By combining the ingredients in a food processor or blender to achieve just the right consistency, then adding the basil, sparkling water and vodka last, you’ll achieve a fragrant, flavorful cocktail like nothing you’ve ever tasted before.
Keep in mind that when it’s time to muddle the basil, you don’t want to smash the leaves. Using the tip of a wooden spoon, gently press the leaves to release their natural oils.
This recipe calls for freshly minced ginger. If you’ve never worked with fresh ginger before, don’t fret! Watch our short video on how to peel and grate ginger.
Mango Ginger Vodka Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 tsp ginger, minced
- 1 cup mango chunks, fresh or frozen, defrosted
- 2 limes
- 4 oz vodka
- 16 oz sparkling water
- 8 fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Place honey, water, salt and minced ginger into a microwave-safe bowl or 2-cup glass liquid measuring cup. Place in microwave then bring liquid to a boil. Add mango and microwave just long enough to warm the fruit—about 20 seconds.
- Puree mango mixture in a food processor or blender then stir in juice of one lime—the puree should yield about 1 cup of liquid. Set aside to cool completely.
- When ready to serve, fill each glass with ice then pour in ¼ cup mango puree to each ¾ cup sparkling water. Add 1 oz vodka, a squeeze of fresh lime juice and one bruised basil leaf to the glass and stir to combine. Ensure the basil is submerged in the liquid then serve immediately.
