We can think of only one reason to get out the knife, scoop and newspaper and carve a pumpkin this year: meet project pumpkin ice bucket.

Ingredients
  • pumpkin
  • dry erase marker/pencil
  • large serrated knife
  • paring knife
  • large wooden spoon/pumpkin scooper
  • newspaper
  • ice
  • beverage of choice
Instructions
  1. Select a long, stretched-out pumpkin that’s already resting on its side (so it will have a flat, stable base).
  2. Place on top of newspaper for easy clean up later.
  3. Trace a large oval across the top ⅓ of the pumpkin using a dry erase marker or pencil.
  4. Cut along line at a 45-degree angle with serrated knife and remove top.
  5. Scoop out pumpkin innards and smooth interior surface with paring knife
  6. wash and pat dry.
  7. Put ice and pre-chilled wine in pumpkin ice bucket just before guests arrive.
