This household staple uses mayo, sour cream and buttermilk as its basic ingredients. Low-fat versions can easily be substituted if your watching calories.

If you’re a big fan of Greek yogurt, throw it in instead of sour cream. It’s got more protein and fewer carbs than regular yogurt with a thicker, creamier consistency that’s great for cooking.

No buttermilk in the fridge? Don’t worry! Make your own by adding a tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to any kind of milk and wait 10 minutes for it to curdle.

One of the benefits of making this recipe is the time it requires to make it. It takes only a minute or two to measure out the mayo, sour cream and buttermilk, then add savory herbs such as dried chives, parsley and dill weed. If you choose to use fresh herbs, be sure to double the amounts.
