Most of a pepper’s heat is in its seeds and white membranes. So, if you want spicier poppers, try stirring in a bit of these parts. But be careful—there’s no way to know exactly how hot it’ll be! Make sure to taste-test as you go.
Cheeseburger Jalapeno Poppers Recipe Tips:
+ You can make these up to 4 hours ahead of time and keep them in the fridge until you’re ready to bake.
+ We couldn’t get the jalapeño poppers to stand upright the first time around. We used crumpled aluminum to keep them steady on the next try and it worked like a charm.
+ Although these poppers can be baked, grilling gives them a slightly smoky flavor you’ll love.
Cheeseburger Jalapeno Poppers Recipe
Ingredients
- 12 large jalapeños
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 cups Mexican cheese blend, shredded
- salt, to taste
- pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Spray baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
- Wash the peppers. Slice them length wise in half and remove the seeds and white membranes. Set aside.
- To a large bowl add ground beef, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion and mix with cheese, until thoroughly combined. Fill peppers with approximately 1 heaping tablespoon of beef mixture. The bigger the pepper, the more filling you will use. Secure the pepper with a toothpick pierced through the middle if necessary for the jalapeño to hold its form. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Place peppers on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle a bit more cheese over poppers. Return to oven until cheese melts. Transfer to serving platter and enjoy!
Looks really good. Great idea for a party appetizer, especially for holidays coming up.
