Vegan Parmesan Cheese Recipe Tips:
+ Don’t have a food processor? That’s okay. You can put the walnuts in a big Ziploc bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Then just mix all the ingredients together in a big bowl.
What is Nutritional Yeast?
Nutritional yeast has been a pantry staple in health food stores for years, but many people are still confused by what it is and how to use it. To be honest, before we got our hands on a bag, we were in the same boat! However, once we started learning more about the numerous health benefits of nutritional yeast and all the different ways you can use it, we were hooked!
Nutritional yeast is vastly different from the yeast used to make bread or brew beer because it is grown specifically to be used as a food product. In fact, the yeast cells aren’t even alive in the final product. The flavor of nutritional yeast is nutty and cheesy. In fact, it’s used as a cheese substitute for many vegan recipes (and one of the reasons we included it in this vegan parmesan cheese recipe).
Besides the delicious flavor, nutritional yeast is… well, nutritious! It’s a great source of protein, B vitamins, and trace minerals – yes please! All this helps boost your energy, support the immune system, and improve nail, hair, and skin health.
